Time stands still in this beautiful corner of the world We have just had our upteenth (lost count now ) camping trip to Newbourne - I probably haven't written a review before because I didn't want our secret super campsite to become too popular , but I cant hold back - if you enjoy the same ingredients as us in a campsite then check out Newbourne - Toilets and Showers, much better than you might find in many hotels ! BBQ's and Fire Pits all free to use, logs to burn just a fiver - the attention to detail is fantastic , fridges and freezers and charging points all included , a safe haven canopy if there is inclement weather with a chiminea & fairy lights , no allocated pitches just find your ideal spot - wheel barrows to help you unload your kit to your pitch - great wash up area - site shop if you have forgotten something - Information office for details of dog walks & things to do in the area - relaxed check in and check out -time stands still , your off grid but not off grid ,everything you could need is close by but not on top of you , you are submerged in the Suffolk countryside and its beautiful - a lovely stroll to a great pub The Fox for a post dog walk pint

KingFisher Cabin We had a lovely time in the Kingfisher Cabin. We took our German Shepherd with us and went for some lovely walks around the area. The seaside is not too far either and had a nice stroll in Felixstowe and Aldeburgh. The cabin is really comfy and the wood burner inside is priceless!

Amazing facilities & so peaceful I joined my family camping for a few nights at Newbourne and can't recommend enough! The facilities are absolutely amazing (probably the best we have encountered at a campsite!) there are fridge/freezers available, a phone charging point and benches/tables available for guests use. The toilet and shower block is very well maintained and cleaned to a very high standard, there are waterfall showers which are heavenly after a busy day sightseeing. There is also a kettle in the bathroom (perfect for hot water bottles on an evening!). The campsite is located in a quiet peaceful landscape surrounded by fields and farmland so offers a tranquil getaway from the hustle and bustle! Very enjoyable and peaceful trip- just wish it could have been a longer stay.

August trip Great campsite, in a really peaceful area. The facilities were great, really well looked after. The showers were brilliant, and lovely and clean. Lots of fire pits and bbqs to borrow for the trip, and wood and coals available for reasonable prices. Lots of nooks in the forrest to find an open or more private area to pitch up. will definately be back!!

Summer Camp Lovely small and quiet camp where you can put your tent amongst the trees or outskirts - you pick your spot. Immaculate shower block with nice extra thoughtful touches like mozzie spray if you've forgotten yours and blankets. There was a lovely fire burner in a little nook and fire pits you could take to your pitch. Don't forget to take a good light so you can find your back to your tent! The Fox Inn nearby served delicious food, you'll find a money off voucher in the camp info hut which we found after we had rushed out to eat ! Not far from lots of places to visit including Felixstowe for a bit of seaside charm. Needing breakfast, the owner even showed us the way to the Holeshot cafe which is a converted coach!

This has to be one of the best campsites in England Just back from a five night stay (our second at this site) and it's a small slice of perfection. Everything from the amenities (clean, plenty of hot water) to the atmosphere (quiet and restful) to the welcome from the hosts makes for a relaxing and enjoyable break. Don't change a thing!

What a gem of a place! It’s hard to know where to begin describing this fabulous idyllic place. Driving through the village you immediately get a sense of what’s to come, residents have barrows set up selling home grown produce, everyone gives way down the single lane and as far as you can see it’s just beautiful farmlands. On my arrival Jen (the owner) came out to greet me and directed me to Cherry Tree Cabin. No 15 minute lecture about rules and regulations just basic information and a request to relax and enjoy. A short walk through the woods revealed the most amazing accommodation. Wheelbarrows are available to transport your gear. A very spacious one room cabin with 2 single beds awaited me with plenty of places to hang your clothes, an abundance of blankets and lovely little touches like pictures and tapestries which make the place very unique and homely. There is an outside kitchen with 2 gas ring burners and every cooking utensil you could think of. There’s a table and chairs on the deck and then down a couple of steps to the fire pit and another couple of relaxing chairs. The view is breathtaking overlooking the water meadow and within 5 minutes I had seen my first herd of about 5 deer. There’s no electricity which makes it even more special but there are loads of candles which light up the cabin and plenty of solar lights outside. There’s a small electric fan heater type of thing which just took the edge off the chilly nights. The facilities at this site are second to none! You can pitch your tent wherever you like, be that on the open grass or nestled away in the woods. There are BBQs and fire pits to use, logs and home made charcoal are available at a small cost. The shower/toilet block is the cleanest and the most well thought out I have ever seen. There’s hand soap, cream, electric points, a hairdryer and a kettle. Together with blankets and insect repellent. Showers are on a push timer but were spacious, strong and hot! There’s a communal undercover area which houses fridge/freezers and an electric box to charge your phone. Washing up bases were also fully equipped with washing up liquid/sponges/clothes and lovely hot water. The camp runs on trust and honesty, how refreshing in this day and age! there’s a small shop just up by the main house which has everything you might need or have forgotten, take what you want and jot it down in the book, settle up when you leave! there’s a pub in the village but I didn’t visit. But the nature reserve just passed it is beautiful, saw my first muntjac deer! Nearby there’s Woodbridge and Wickham Market which are quaint little towns full of quirky little shops and Felixstowe beach was about a 15 minute drive, if you can drag yourself away from the peace and tranquility of the camp that is! I travelled alone and I felt very safe. It really was the perfect retreat to have some quality ‘me’ time, there is something very cathartic about sitting outdoors in front of a roaring fire listening to the wildlife (owls, foxes, deers, birds) I stayed for 3 nights but 4 or 5 would’ve been ideal. I will definitely be back next year! Thank you Jen and Larry for the most wonderful few days! You have got this absolutely spot on!

Perfect detox! Our umpteenth stay here and, once again, just perfect! Being Essex based, when I announce that I'll be spending a week of my treasured holidays in Suffolk, in a tent (!), my work colleagues often raise their eyebrows quizzically! Of course, the truth is that you need to go a long way to find such a great campsite, lovely countryside and sea air (just a short bike ride away) within such close proximity of one another. I think the site was full on our arrival, but you'd never know it! Unbelievable late August weather added the cherry to the top of our slow-down holiday! Don't come here if you want clubhouses or to be able to play loud music! However, if your idea of relaxation is spending an evening under a starlit sky and in front of a crackling fire listening to owls calling, this is for you. Whether camping in the woodland or on the open areas, you can be sure that life will feel a little better - even if it rains! Jen and Larry really do run a fantastic site here and I look forward to many more visits. Only one negative - my 'phone actually had improved signal over my last visit! I'll leave it at home next time!

A peaceful escape from the stresses of modern life, with nothing but birdsong as a soundtrack. Camp in the woodland or in the fields, borrow fire pits and BBQs for free (just pay for logs/charcoal). Hot showers, proper toilets, even a hairdryer and hot water bottles. Small but well-stocked shop for all the essentials - the lovely owners have thought of everything.

This is the best campsite I've ever been to. The pitches are in a beautiful setting, with plenty of trees and wildlife to enjoy. It's so quiet! The facilities are lovely and are spotlessly clean and everything is so well thought out, from a fridge, to phone charging area, even rugs and hot water bottles. Plus the elephants of course! We will be back.

Fabulous campsite in the heart of Suffolk If you are looking for a quiet site (very few pitches, no children) then this is absolutely fabulous. Despite only allowing a few tents it is a big site with plenty of room. There is camping either in the field or in the woods, and if you don't fancy canvas then there are two cottages. The facilities were vey well presented and immaculately clean with extra touches like a handy little shop, plenty of (homemade) charcoal to buy and barbecues to borrow. Many of the pitches also have fire pits, again with wood available to buy. The proprietors are friendly and approachable and as well as a lovely site have provided lots of information about the local area - I would give this 6 out of 5 if I could.

peaceful get away! We recently stayed in the kingfisher cabin which was a relaxing stay. The owner has thought of everything to ensure your stay is to good standard. I loved the fact she had a information hut on the site with all the places to go visit of days out, near by pubs and local shops and cafe so that you Have plenty to do during your stay. We visited a fort that was only a 15minute drive away and it was a lovely day out. I would definitely reccommend this place for anyway who is looking for a relaxing get away as itt was just lovely to be in the country away from everything.

A weekend with nature. Decided to book this campsite because it is dog friendly and liked the idea of camping in the woods and so glad we did. We arrived mid afternoon on Friday and signed in in the information office, grabbed a wheelbarrow and headed into the woods with our tent etc. There's quite a few small clearings in between the pine trees and we soon found one free, even had a water tap. After setting up camp and having a few cold beers we had a little wonder around and everyone seemed very friendly. The shower block and toilets are probably the best I've seen on a campsite anywhere. Nice covered communal area too with fridges and freezer and also power to charge your phone ( not that there's much reception, which is good). We walked to the local pub for dinner and a drink on both evenings with Otis our lab. Saturday we went to old Felixstowe and spent some of the day on the beach. It's only a few miles from the campsite. Sunday we packed up quite early as the forecast was'nt good so unfortunately we had gone by 10 am but we did find 3 natterjack toads had set up camp under our tent! Can't recommend Newbourne Woodland Campsite enough. Thanks to Jen and her husband. Hopefully we'll be back soon. Andrew, Gail & Otis Cunningham.

Really lovely, peaceful, natural site. This site is exactly what they say it is: peaceful, pretty, well appointed and even when it 'filled up ' it remained beautifully peaceful - I say filled but even full the place just swallows up the twenty tents and you wouldn't know it. The free to use fire pits and barbecues - pay for the wood/charcoal you burn - are a terrific touch, particularly as the nights get cooler. The toilets and washing up facilities (with complimentary washing up liquid - nice touch!) are modern and clean and there's a fridge freezer as well. Interesting little shop as well (with cold drinks) and it all works on an honesty basis - write down what you use and pay at the end when you check out. My only criticism is of the taps in the toilets - pretty but completely impractical. 20 minute walk to the village pub (numerous little produce stalls en route) and plenty of places to see nearby. Really lovely site. We'll camp in the woods next time.

I was welcomed by the very friendly and caring owner, who made sure I had everything I needed. The cabin I stayed in was very tastefully decorated, comfortable and well equipped. The biggest (positive) surprise for me were the toilet and shower facilities : sparkling clean, nice looking and quite different from what you usually find on campsites. Very luxurious and not like anything I have ever seen on a camp site in the UK. Thank you for a pleasant stay!

Rural idyll? Tick! Adults only? Tick! Fantastic facilities? Tick! This is the only site that we've visited that we were the ONLY CAMPERS for our 3 night stay this week! We had acres of field and woodland to ourselves! We may be spoilt for our next visit, but this is such a perfect site that it would be great anytime. We chose to pitch in a sunny, grassy clearing between some tall 'Christmas' trees, not far from the Elephant Shed and wash blocks. The whole site is lovingly maintained by Jen and Larry. The excellent wash locks are spotless. The showers were instant, hot and powerful. There is a power point in the Ladies for a hairdryer. There were generous touches; spare sleeping bags, blankets, hot water bottles to borrow. Fire baskets and barbecues were stacked neatly undercover, ready to use. Seasoned wood is only £5 for a big crate and just ask Jen for charcoal. The fridges, freezer and phone charging point were very useful. In the information shed there were mapped walks with printed copies that could be used. There were even discount cards for the local pub! We found the area charming. Quiet villages, great pubs with excellent food. Lots of glass houses growing veg and fruit. Roadside stalls sell seasonal supplies at reasonable prices with honesty boxes. There is even a farm shop within walking distance. The main A12 is easily accessed (but not heard!) for visits to beaches, quaint downs and interesting sites. Probably our new favourite campsite. We'll be back!

Campsite haven. Second visit to Newbourne campsite. The first being in 2021. This campsite is just as brilliant as we remembered and it was lovely to share it with our friends who also loved it. The site is spacious and has different levels and trees to make it feel really private. There’s space in the field or in the woodland. The tents aren’t on top of each other and everyone respects each others space because you get to choose your spot. The scenery is beautiful too and it’s perfectly located with lots of walks with pubs along the way. Would highly recommend the maybush inn. It’s adults only so lovely and quiet and everyone is respectful of noise. The fire pit was a highlight on one of the nights as it was a bit chilly. The shower block is always clean and tidy and calming. Jen the owner has really paid attention to detail on this campsite and there is a little shop for emergency bits if needed. We would highly recommend to campers wanting some peace and relaxation whilst camping. This really is a little haven, we will definitely be back. Thank you!

luxurious peaceful bliss! We stayed in their Kingfisher Cabin for 3 nights with our dog. The owner Jen couldn't have been more wonderful, she'd thought of everything, torches, dog poo bags, information on dog friendly beaches and beautiful walks, bug spray and even antihistamine cream! Upon arrival we found a welcome basket with bread, butter, Jam, milk and tomatoes. There was even a bag of ice in the freezer. This is an adults only campsite, with only 25 pitches, some of which are in woodland. The shower and toilet block were totally luxurious and there was also another little cabin which could be rented. This is highly recommended and we will definitely be returning.

There’s nothing not to love about this place The reviews really aren’t wrong, this place is special. It’s a beautiful setting with generous pitches. The shower block is the best I’ve seen on a campsite - the posh hand wash is a lovely touch. An on-site shop if you forget something, and Jen is a great host - super quick to reply to emails and available if you need to contact her during the stay. Remember to bring bug spray if you tend to get bitten, and I’d definitely suggest ear plugs at this time of year - the dawn chorus really gets going at about 5am. The one thing I was apprehensive about was not being able to listen to some music (as I have it on pretty much all the time at home), but I really didn’t miss it. The fire, star-lit skies and sound of owls calling made for the perfect evening. In short, everything is really well thought out to set you up for a relaxing stay. If you want some peace and quiet, then I’m sure you’ll love it. We’ll certainly be back.

A beautiful woodland getaway! In a great location with a lovely pub only a 1.5 miles walk away. Jen & Larry have thought of everything on for this site, a large selection of BBQ's & fire pits for you to borrow free of charge, a great undercover fridge and freezer area with a BBQ to cook on if the weather isn't great. Peaceful country camping We took the train to Ipswich and cycled to the campsite - it was great! The campsite has lots of choice of pitches and lots of space, in the trees or in one of the clearings, there is a spot for everyone, The facilities are top notch! Really clean and lovely bathrooms and a little shed to hide from the rain along with a fridge/freezer. Not to be missed is the shed of information! Lots of useful things here. The campsite is ideally located, with a fabulous pub nearby as well as a good farm shop for pantry essentials. The wood really is wonderfully peaceful and the owners are so friendly and easy going. Happiness Is Here! We have visited Newbourne Woodland Campsite twice now, once as campers and most recently in Hawthorn Cabin. There aren't enough words to give this gem a suitably glowing review! It is peaceful and tranquil, the number of visitors is kept low and you can choose your pitch- woodland or meadow. The washroom facilities are better than some hotels I've stayed at and the owners really have thought of everything! This time staying in Hawthorn Cabin couldn't have been better. The love and attention that has gone into creating the cabin cannot be overlooked, from the silent fan to the citronella incense sticks everything has been thought of. The owners and their lovely dog Scoobs are a breath of fresh air and so hard working. When staying in the cabin make sure you keep a look out over the meadow for the abundance of wildlife that visit- the binoculars are there for a reason! Covid safety has also been thought of in the camp grounds but not too overbearing, the gentle and thoutful touch- just like everything else at Newbourne! We will be back to visit soon ✨

The Most Perfect Adult Campsite! Where do I start! This place is so lovely, from the very start the owners made us feel welcome and and they were so laidback. You can pitch where you like and once saying hello you are sent off to find your spot. The grounds were tidy and just beautoful - and it was lovely to have the option for either meadow or woodland camping! We chose the woods - which worked nicely for us as we were close to the facilities and love wildlife! Which if you do love wildlife it is incredible for! We had a couple pheasants that wandered around our camp every day we named the fella Phillip lol. Deer, rabbits everything! We see the lot - and I see a review about bringing ear plugs as the sounds of the birds start very early! But dont be fooled into thinking its overbearing - the sounds of the birds were beautiful and was amazing to fall asleep to them all saying goodnight and again in the morning! The toilets/shower block was very clean and tidy and the showers were incredible! I didn't ever want to get out! Me and my partner loved all the little extras like the hot water bottles (which saved us at night time!) and blankets etc. There is also a fridge and a charging station which we wasnt pepared for so was such a lovely touch! It was super quiet when we went with only 2 other pitches when we arrived and it was the perfect time for peace and some tranquility! Our car even broke down and the owners were more than helpful - allowing us to park outside their home and checking on us. An amazing adults only getaway and me and my partner will most definetly be back again not only for camping but for the cabins too!

Best campsite we have stayed in! Wow! Where do I start! Everything about this campsite was perfect, we have stayed at a lot of campsites, but this was definitely our favourite! Easy to book, instant reply to emails, friendly, helpful welcome as soon as we got there and throughout our stay. There is also a little information shed with maps and leaflets for the local area. Plenty of parking and wheelbarrows to transport your belongings from car to pitch. Stunning campsite where you get to choose from a woodland, meadow or next to pond pitch. We loved that it was adult only (dogs allowed) and the tents aren’t squeezed in, so plenty of space for everyone. Benches scattered around the campsite are very handy, running water in the meadow which you can drink from. A handy covered area where you can charge your mobiles and a fridge/ freezer to put your food in - even bags and a marker pen to write your names on. Plentiful free fire pits, BBQ’s and stands are available, and logs, charcoal and kindling are available to purchase. There is a little shop that has all the essentials you need including food, alcohol, toiletries etc. On to the toilet and shower blocks - absolutely spotless, and like something you would find in a good quality pub, rather than a campsite! Love the added touches of the radio playing, hairdryer, quality soap, hand dryer, warm blankets, hot water bottles and a kettle for if you get cold in the night. There are two large washing up areas with washing up liquid, clothes and scourers. Plenty of bins around the campsite including recycling bin. There is a lovely picturesque country pub about a 25 minute walk away serving food. Every little detail had been thought of to make the perfect, relaxing stay. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back very soon! Thank you so much.

A real gem of a campsite! Fantastic time camping in woodland. The pitch itself was so unique and gave the feel of camping in the wild. At the same the facilities were amazing and the free fire pits were a big bonus. There were subtle touches of detail every where you look which made it even more special. What we liked about Newbourne Campsite the most was the lack of signs but the respect and trust everyone had towards the campsite. Says a lot about how amazing the owners are. Peaceful camping We chose this campsite as it was dog friendly, allowed campfires and was adults only. This campsite is small, and not over crammed, so it is very peaceful, you have the choice of an open field area or the wooded area, we chose the wooded area which was perfect to escape the hot sun with our dog. The toilets/showers/washing up facilities are brilliant, clean, critter free and well looked after, some of the best we have seen, the extra touches are great such as mozzie spray, blankets etc. Also there is an information hut which has some lovely walks to do. Fires can be lit in the firepits which are free to use and wood is £5 a crate, we only used one crate over 2 nights. My only very small criticism is that there is no shop which can be handy for the basics, other than that we loved it and would definitely come back

The facilities really are the best we've ever experienced while camping - they are spotlessly clean and contain everything you need. Sleeping bags and blankets, bug spray, hand cream, plug points, fridge/freezer, free fire pits. The owners are friendly and helpful. Love having the choice of camping in the wood or in the open. Couldn't fault this site. The location is great - thoroughly recommend the Suffolk Coastal Route cycle ride which uses the National Cycle Route 41 and 1. Also, massive Tesco at Martlesham, a short drive away, for essentials like Adnams ale.

Shhhh.... keep it to yourself! This was our third visit to the wonderful Newbourne Woodland campsite. We stayed in Kingfisher Cabin, which is an amazing glamping habitat. Jen and Larry (the owners) have thought of everything, down to the tiniest detail. They'd even ordered fabulous weather for the bank holiday so that we could sit on the new decking over the lake and read our books, that's if we weren't watching the family of ducks sploshing around or seeking the elusive kingfisher. It's relatively private and secluded, just the odd tent in sight. There's a real toilet...(glampers will understand the term 'real', being added!), along with a lovely hot shower. The kitchen is well equipped, a fridge with ice box, cooker, microwave and kettle. I challenge you to want for anything, pots and pans, cutlery and utensils, tea, coffee, oil and seasoning, scales and jugs, pretty little egg cups (which I insisted in using on our last morning despite the fact my husband doesn't even like boiled eggs! The lounge area has books and scrabble, along with a new addition, a tv/dvd player. There are plenty of blankets and a wood burning stove to keep you cosy, along with electric heaters if the great British weather decides to frown upon you. On the large decked area there's a BBQ with utensils in the dining area to the front of the cabin. Beyond the decking there is also a fire pit, which the visiting pheasants seemed quite curious about. Supplies had been .... ummmm....supplied!, special offerings of milk, eggs, tomatoes, jam, chocolates, wine, bread and butter. Our dog was as welcomed as us, with a bowl of water and a jar of snacks all ready for our arrival. There are some amazing walks in the area, each one leading to a pub! We parked behind the Maybush (just £1 for 3 hours) and walked along the river, returning some hours later for a well earned liquid refreshment. Can't wait to return to this fabulous place.

The best campsite I’ve been to I can’t tell you how amazing this camp site is. If you want to refresh and get away from technology then this is the place to go. Words don’t do it justice nor do they for Jen and Larry who run the campsite. The toilets/showers are in excellent condition with instant hot water and use of a kettle and hairdryer in the ladies. Jen and Larry were very friendly and helpful, making our experience at Newbourne campsite even more pleasant and memorable. The actual campsite itself is visually stunning and you feel so alive and present being in the open fields, especially when the warmth of the sun is beating down on your skin, or just being around the fire pit outside and listening to the crackling and spitting of the fire and watching the flames dance in the dark. It’s a tranquil environment which offers luxury and peace and you truly feel rejuvenated and cleansed after a visit here. Use of bbqs and fire pits are free, you just pay for wood or coal available at the campsite. There is a shop aswell just incase you forget them marshmallows to roast on the campfire at night. The memories I have made coming to Newbourne campsite are everlasting and I couldn’t be happier that we came across such an incredible, beautiful place. It is adults only which gives it even more sense of peace and you don’t have to worry about noise or being disturbed. Lot of love for this place and cannot wait to visit again next year!

Which if you do love wildlife it is incredible for!|||| We had a couple pheasants that wandered around our camp every day we named the fella Phillip lol. ||||Our car even broke down and the owners were more than helpful - allowing us to park outside their home and checking on us.||||An amazing adults only getaway and me and my partner will most definetly be back again not only for camping but for the cabins too!

Fabulous. Hosts (Jen & Larry & dog) have thought of everything. Peaceful, beautiful & truly relaxing. |Go, you won’t be disappointed. The shop is well stocked & fairly priced, BBQ’s & fire pits to use and all you need to cook & keep warm. Showers & toilets were clean at all times (2 night stay) and the fridge freezer & charging point we’re perfectly added conveniences. Just heaven.

Digital Detox in Serene Suffolk As soon as you turn off the main roads and head down the single track roads leading into Newbourne , away from manic full speed everyday life, you physically feel the weight of modern day living drain away. En route to the campsite you can spot Idyllic little churches nestled in woodland, a very welcoming country pub ( a little too welcoming!) , friendly locals who are more than happy to pull over to let you pass and wonderful fresh produce in stalls at the side of the road with honesty boxes for your cash ( a nod to the Parish's Land Settlement roots). The jewel in Newbourne's crown however is this woodland campsite. We were immediately welcomed by Jen who made us feel at home straight away, not like just another visitor. We were staying in Kingfisher Cabin and I cannot rate this highly enough! A delicious welcome hamper and freshly picked woodland flowers awaited us with facilities and linen far superior to many hotels I have stayed in! Clean, roomy and fresh, extremely well equipped with fridge, freezer, power shower, gas cooker, loo, inside log burner, sofas , sheepskin throws , handmade rugs , fluffy white towels and locally made soaps...There were even dog treats and fresh water down for our one "well behaved dog"! Outside is a railed decking area overlooking the large pond, a beautiful spot to sit at the bistro table watching the wildlife and birds whilst sipping your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. A Weber BBQ and built in fire pit with rattan style chairs complete your outdoor experience...Oh and they even make their own charcoal for use on the BBQ! If you have forgotten anything, there is an open all hours well equipped, well priced camp shop too with anything from sun cream and cold beer to dog food and burgers...They really have thought of everything here.( Oh, and even if you're staying in Kingfisher Cabin, do take a peek at the loo and shower block..I have never seen anything like it on a campsite...would put many a hotel to shame!) But the overriding feelings, the ones that got us staying an extra night before begrudgingly heading off home to go to work, are of tranquility, calmness and serenity. This is a must visit location and we will most definitely be returning very very soon.

Had a lovely weekend staying at the Newbourne Woodland Campsite. It's a beautiful campsite with lots of choice of where to pitch - open space, woodland area, more hidden grassy areas. Facilities were kept very clean and the best I've seen on a campsite. Especially loved the spacious showers, full-length mirror and the added touch of a kettle and extra blankets in the bathroom in case you get cold. Jen was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The campsite also had an excellent shop that was stocked with everything you need (and lots of things you didn't realise you needed!) Highly recommend.

An excellent base for exploring beautiful Coastal Suffolk We camped at Newbourne Woodlands whist re-visiting this beautiful part of the world after an absence of some 31 years. The site was excellent, well-managed with facilities spotless and beyond anything encountered on previous camping trips in the UK. The owners have really raised the bar for campsite standards and we would recomend the site without reservation. I was delighed that the area hadn't changed that much in the intervening years with welcoming pubs and walks along the beautiful River Deben easily accessible from Newbourne Woodlands. A brilliant stay. We will return. Stephen and Sarah Rose Devon

Lovely campsite will definately return! Camped in the wooded area for 2 nights with my partner in August, was made to feel very welcome by Jen and all the fellow campers were very friendly too! Very clean site and love all the little touches, in the mornings there was fresh tomatoes, lettuce etc in a little basket for people to buy which I thought was a great idea! There are blankets in the ladies for you to borrow if you get a bit chilly at night and insect repellent, hand cream etc free to use. If you want to use a hairdryer take one with you as there is a power point in the ladies but no hairdryer. I think this is a great idea as have been to other campsites that do provide hairdryers which you pay for and your money only lasts seconds. The wood crates for £5 each were a great bargain and nice large logs kept our fire going for hours. very peaceful site and lovely sitting around in the evening seeing all the campfires burning and crackling. The elephant shed was very sweet, we didn't use it ourselves but a fab idea! We walked to The Fox Inn pub one day which was a 20 min walk approx. its a lovely pub and great food with very friendly staff, the car park is a little snug when its busy! Along the walk to the pub we came across a little shop selling fresh produce which had a great variety! This was about half way to the pub so about 10 minutes walk from the campsite. There was also a few people selling strawberries, egg's and veg/fruit from their driveways. It isn't a huge campsite but there was plenty of space and although was fully booked did not feel crowded at all. There are 3 main areas, the field, the woods and the wooded clearings, If you want one of the wooded clearings arrive early! Though we preferred the woods. We will definitely return next year and invite a couple of friends along :-)

relaxing break We camped here for two nights last week, and were really impressed with this site. Yes - it is a little more expensive than other sites but for this you get: to choose where you pitch the tent with woodland options, firepits and BBQs, along with firewood and charcoal they make onsite. The facilities are excellent, with blankets, flyspray and a useful kettle, which came in handy when I was unwell during the night, and needed a quick cuppa. The showers are also great, hot with plenty of hooks to hang clothes etc and if you're tall then you should be happy, as my 6'4" partner was able to stand up straight under it. It was peaceful and relaxing. We loved it and will return.

Cherry Tree Cabin This is absolutely our favourite campsite and usually we pack our own tent but for the last weekend of the season we decided to treat ourselves to a weekend in the relatively new Cherry Tree Cabin. This is a beautifully laid out and presented cabin with lovely touches such as a mosquito net round the bed, solar candles and comfy beds. There is a nice decked area complete with table, chairs and deckchairs outside leading down to an area with a built in pit fire, wonderful for the chilly late autumn evenings gazing over the meadow watching the stars emerge (if you're lucky enough to need a wee at 3am make sure you look up for a spectacular show of stars when you get to the decking). The very best bit about this cabin is feeling secluded in your own bit of woods listening to foxes barking and owls hooting .... absolutely peaceful and perfect.

Great little campsite Very clean and quiet. Lots of small touches to make camping so much easier like plenty of hooks in large showers, blankets to borrow if you're cold, bug spray, kettle and tables and chairs provided. There's a campers kitchen with phone charging point, fridges and freezer plus seating with candles. All very lovely. This is an adults only and tent only campsite which is rare and much appreciated by those of us who work all year with children and need a quiet break!! The shop has all essentials at a very reasonable price and Jen is really friendly and approachable. Thoroughly recommend this little gem of a campsite.

What a gem I recently stayed in the Kingfisher Cabin which is located in the Newbourne Woodland Campsite. The cabin itself was very well put together. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were modern and had everything we needed to self cater (except maybe a toaster but the grill served us well!) The campsite was absolutely lovely and Larry and Jen made us feel very welcome. I would thoroughly recommend the campsite and also the Kingfisher cabin if you didn't fancy camping.

Lovely place.. Stayed here for one night with my partner and we will definitely be back.. I'm not a seasoned or experienced camper at all, but I know what I need when away and this place is absolutely perfect.. It's one of the best maintained, relaxed and chilled campsites I've been to by far.. It's clearly very loved by its owners, who could be found on site or at their house by the entranceway, with their loyal Labrador, if you needed anything.. When we arrived we found them zipping around the grounds on their golf buggy.. Upon seeing us surveyor the grounds, they immediately came over and introduced themselves, took our details and happily explained where everything was and how it all worked.. And that's in a very relaxed manner.. You could basically pitch anywhere in the open field or wooded area.. Having scouted around we decided on the open field.. There was only one other tent pitched there.. Most other campers had pitched in the woods.. And it's up this end, most of the amenities are: toilet and shower block, sinks to wash up. Communal outside lounge area where there were fridges freezers, phone charging point and a fire place with lit fire.. collection areas for fire pits and barbecues.. and what a choice there was! A number of the barbecues had rotisseries attached to them! Crates of firewood and homemade charcoal could also be collected from here. Ladies toilet and shower block had two toilets and two large wet / dry shower enclosures.. Sinks with an expanse of work surface.. electric points with a kettle, hand driers and lovely large bottle of hand soap. Lovely touch was a box full of blankets and hot waters bottles, with a note saying to take one and not be cold :) Other useful areas on site were the information hut.. Full of information and maps on all sorts of walks, pubs, sites and places to see.. And up by the entrance way and next to owners house was also a shop.. Sad to say we didn't realise this was where it was until we went to leave.. But It had pretty much everything you could think of that you'd need for camping.. kindling, mossie spray, citronella candles.. drinks, ice creams.. food.. a great shop! A the kindling would have made getting out fire going much easier lol.. We stayed at the end of August and the weather was changeable.. Beautiful sunshine on arrival, down pour once tent was up, sunshine.. And it was a misty and cold night.. I woke up and had to put extra layers on to keep warm.. This place it what camping should be.. Not overbooked or overcrowded with pitches everywhere.. It's chilled, relaxed, permits individual fires in designated areas of the site (even in the woods), it has good plentiful supplies of what you need such as fire pits, firewood, bbqs.. Lovely clean facilities and a small shop for those things you might have forgotten or suddenly need.. Can't think of anything the owners already haven't.. Lovely place and we will be back 😁

What a wonderful place this is! Adults only! Stayed for a couple of nights. Have camped all my life but never in the woods. Nice old fashioned camping but with some luxury too! Toilets/Shower were fantastic, blankets to borrow if it got chilly and sleeping bags if you forget yours! Fridge and freezer and plugs to plug your phone charger into. Undercover communal area with a log burner to keep warm when its rainy... Fire pits and wood so you can enjoy an open fire. No children but dog friendly which suited us!!! Jen was friendly and very helpful, suggested dinner in The Fox down the road - What a wonderful meal.... An escape from reality and back to basics. Loved it - will be back x

Our weekend escape Our first visit to this beautiful campsite. It was the 'adults only' (no kids) that first drew us to this place. Very tranquil and peaceful. We were greeted by Jan, very nice lady and her enormous dog Barney (gentle giant). We were told we could pitch our tent anywhere and that nowhere was off limits. In the forest was lovely but we wanted to be in the sun so pitched just on the edge of the forest. Toilets and showers very clean, insect spray available to use just in case you forgot yours. Lovely little communal covered area in case of rain with log burner. A real gem this place. Lets hope it doesn't get so popular that you won't be able to get on here as it only has 20 pitches. Will definitely be back. Thanks Larry & Jan, see you again soon From Paul & Paula

Virgin campers Other than overnight fishing trips never been camping before. Searched web for campsites in suffolk and found Newbourne. After a couple of emails with Jen all booked in minutes. Arrived on site(windy wet cold) and Jen gave a guided tour and explained the "rules"- pretty much get on with your own thing but if you need any help give her a shout We pitched on the grass as we did not want the mud on our first outing tent went up ok. Well what you really need to hear is, Site brilliant, facilities 5*, the smallest shop but everything you may need, we could have done an evening meal and breakfast with shop purchases but took our own- know better for next time. We travelled only 50 miles to get total peace and a great time with log fires and bbq's we intend to return in August. Although we have not been to other sites what we got from other campers this site is well up amongst the best. They say first memories last, mine will!! Jen and Larry I wish you every success for the future,

Outstanding campsite amazing facilities very well thought and maintained. Five stars for the showers don't quite adequately give an idea how good they are. The whole site has quirky but tasteful features. The shop is a veritable Aladdins cave. I have never been anywhere with as much space. Had a couple of very nice evenings in the elephant shed when is was raining it was more like being in the himalayas than Suffolk. It is well located for both walking and cycling. There are also loads of stalls outside peoples houses selling local produce. Definitely want to come back.

Wow! Where do I start! Everything about this campsite was perfect, we have stayed at a lot of campsites, but this was definitely our favourite!|Easy to book, instant reply to emails, friendly, helpful welcome as soon as we got there and throughout our stay.|There is also a little information shed with maps and leaflets for the local area. Plenty of parking and wheelbarrows to transport your belongings from car to pitch.|Stunning campsite where you get to choose from a woodland, meadow or next to pond pitch. We loved that it was adult only (dogs allowed) and the tents aren’t squeezed in, so plenty of space for everyone.|Benches scattered around the campsite are very handy, running water in the meadow which you can drink from.|A handy covered area where you can charge your mobiles and a fridge/ freezer to put your food in - even bags and a marker pen to write your names on. |Plentiful free fire pits, BBQ’s and stands are available, and logs, charcoal and kindling are available to purchase.|There is a little shop that has all the essentials you need including food, alcohol, toiletries etc.|On to the toilet and shower blocks - absolutely spotless, and like something you would find in a good quality pub, rather than a campsite! |Love the added touches of the radio playing, hairdryer, quality soap, hand dryer, warm blankets, hot water bottles and a kettle for if you get cold in the night.|There are two large washing up areas with washing up liquid, clothes and scourers. |Plenty of bins around the campsite including recycling bin.|There is a lovely picturesque country pub about a 25 minute walk away serving food.|Every little detail had been thought of to make the perfect, relaxing stay.|We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back very soon! Thank you so much.

Jen and the team really know what they are doing There is a confidence to this campsite, borne out of people who clearly have a great plan and have been inspired enough to see it through. The facilities are excellent, but it is the maturity of the offering which sets this place apart. It is peaceful, everything works and you can do your own thing. We stayed in one of the two cabins - the quality of the accommodation is very high, the outlook is wonderful and you have everything you might need for a digital detox. Wonderful value and a great getaway. We will return.

Hammock camping paradise Wow! What a wonderful place. I don't know where to start! The shower blocks are epic easily the best I've seen on a camp site. The whole place has a real feeling of serenity and you can't beat sitting around a camp fire at night, the fire pits and BBQ's are a real nice touch. The camp shop fee range eggs were delicious and went down a treat for breakfast! They seem to have thought of everything and the little touches are what really makes it special. Jen was very welcoming and we'll definitely be back soon.

Loved this campsite. We’re cycling on tour and so good to have a campsite that isn’t a giant car park. Cars and vehicles are provided with wheelbarrows to carry their gear to the camping area. Makes the area so much more enjoyable without people driving around where your sleeping. Get some exercise too. I’m always amazed how much junk people take camping with them. Site toilet Bloch is wonderful and new spacious ,clean ,well appointed . We had a fire pit and camped near the woods and had the place pretty much to ourselves. Used one of the dinning tables dotted about. Owner was very helpful and relaxed.

Fantastic week as always here, we keep coming back because it's so damn good! The good points: excellent showers, loos and washing up facilities.Loads of space for you to pitch where you like, shade, sun, forest, field, the choice is yours. Amazing peaceful views, just greenery and birds. You can have camp fires in most pitches, which you can buy their wood for which is very reasonably priced. They make their own charcoal which is also very reasonably priced. Fridge, freezer, phone charging, showers all free. The owners are absolutely lovely. Tents and adults only, quiet after ten. There's now a little shop added, all the essentials can be found. They even provide washing up liquid and bug cream to share. Which brings me nicely to the bad point: Bugs! They are a complete pain and we were bitten lots, but they have provided bite cream, spray to kill them if they are in your tent, and spray to put on you to keep you bite free. So keep the mesh zips done up all the time to keep the buggers out, think about where you pitch (they are worse in the wood and near the water), and take your own bug stuff so you can cover yourself in it in the comfort of your tent. It's the only downside to the site and it's worth it.

This is a small, peaceful campsite that is adults-only. You can pitch on the grass areas or under the trees. You're not allowed to drive to your pitch - you park up and use their wheelbarrow to transporter kit. This keeps the site really tranquil. Shower block is lovely and clean. I really can't find anything negative to say at all.

Beautiful Cabin in the Woods This is the 2nd time my Husband and I have visited this lovely site. We went last month for a whole week of relaxation. Whilst we were there we watched with interest a lovely cabin being built and decided then and there we would be back once it was finished. We have been watching Newbournes Facebook site avidly and we're delighted to discover the cabin was free this weekend. Newbourne is an Adults only Camping site with pitches in the wooded area and also on grass. We loved the idea that we would not be disturbed by boisterous children. You are allowed to have a fire in one of the provided fire pits and there are free BBQs to use as well. You can bring your own wood or pay a reasonable £5 for a crate of Firewood. The Shower block is Beautiful with plenty of hot water free of charge. There are blankets and sleeping bags to use in case you forget yours and Mosi spray to use after your shower. Opposite the shower block there is a beautiful area called the Elephant Shed which has fridges and a freezer to store all of your fresh food. There is a phone charger in this area where for £1 you can charge your phone. There are also tables and chairs a BBQ and a Heater for cold days. We camped last time and loved lying in our tent listening to the birds and wildlife. So let me Describe the Cabin it is one of 2. Ours was Called the Cherry Tree and is painted a Pale Green colour. It has a lovely large wood decked area to sit out and enjoy the Beautiful View. There is a BBQ and a brick built fire pit. Inside the Cabin are 2 Single Beds. They were pushed together for us though. You have to provide your own bedding and pillows but that's no problem. There is Crockery ,Cutlery and Glasses provided for use with the BBQ. We brought our cooker and camping kitchen with us and it was a lovely home from home. The cabin is very tranquil and furnished beautifully as you can see from my photos. I would recommend this wholeheartedly to anyone who likes the idea of camping but doesn't wish to sleep in a tent.

The little extras make all the difference We stayed for 2 nights as a group of friends. We we arrived there was only one other tent, so we pitched up over looking the meadow. I was surprised to find sturdy benches and tables scattered around for use by campers. We set up, borrowed a BBQ and a fire pit and we were off. The owners sell charcoal from the house and have crates of logs for the fire pit. Loved the little touches in the toilet block. A box of blankets to borrow in case you get cold and bug spray/bite cream for all to use. I also loved that the campsite had a small fridge and freezer to use, also plug sockets to charge phones/lights near the toilets. Loved camping in the woods, gave a good bit of shelter from the light rain. Wonderfully out of the way and very peaceful. Thoroughly recommend and wi certainly be back.

High Class Camping We stayed 3 nights in September and had a really good camp. Extremely well run and organised site, friendly welcome. Tranquil escape, sublime setting, outstanding facilities This was our 3rd visit to this tranquil campsite and it is our favourite get away as a couple. The setting is sublime, either in the field or the woodland, the facilities are the best I have ever seen at a camping site, the owners are fantastic and work hard to make our holiday the best it can be. The site is big enough that you do not have to camp on top of each other. There is plenty to do nearby such as hiking, walking, country pubs and villages to visit and their is plenty of wildlife about. We counted at least 20 varieties of bird from just sitting by our tent. Every time we have visited there has been nothing that has let us down other than the weather and we have always left feeling totally relaxed and refreshed. If I could I would visit more often. Slightly more expensive than other campsites but in my opinion it's worth every penny you pay. Highly recommend this campsite if you want a relaxing get away on your own, as a pair or a group of 2-4 people. Thank you for another lovely holiday and we shall be returning next year.

Fantastic stay. A lovely campsite run by a great couple, the campsite is secluded with many thoughtful touches such as additional blankets in the bathrooms. The man who primarily greets you at the campsite showed us to the site ensuring we knew where the fire baskets were and wash facilities. The pub is about a 20-25 minute walk and they serve good food. Fantastic stay and would highly recommend. Marc Hurren.

Kingfisher cabin We stayed in the kingfisher cabin, lovely and unique. Loved everything about it and enjoyed our bbqs on the decking overlooking the resorvior. They are an adult only site which is nice as it was lovely and peaceful. Also dog friendly

The best! Quite possibly the best campsite we've ever been to. You can either set up in the open areas or, like us, in the woodland. You can pitch wherever you like, but in order to have an open fire you have to pitch a little way down from the top of the campsite, but that doesn't limit you. Excellent toilet and shower block which is clean and airy. The site is dog friendly and adult only which is great for a peaceful retreat! Great place!

Wonderful campsite, peaceful setting. An excellent campsite with a mixture of open grass fields and shaded woodland - approx. a 70%-30% split. The site is run by Jen and Larry who were always very helpful and friendly, as were their pet labrador and cat. The site is very much managed in a trusting and non-invasive manner, which made for a relaxing atmosphere and a nice change from having a list of rules to digest as at other sites. The pitches are large and undefined and there was no sense of overcrowding even when it filled up at the weekend. Fire pits and BBQs were available to use at no extra cost, as were spare blankets if required when the nights turned chilly. The facilities were very good with showers, toilets and washing-up areas being spotless. A small hut on-site served as an information hub and provided details of countless walks in the area. Also available was a small shop that stocked a wide range of essentials from freshly laid eggs & milk, to marshmallows & beer/wine (essential companions for the fire pits). The site is well positioned to explore Suffolk and we particularly enjoyed the coastal fringe, while Felixstowe provided a typical British seaside resort setting.

Relaxed Easter break This is a fantastic site to get away from everything. You can pitch so you feel completely secluded and relax listening to the wildlife around you. At dusk the birds treat you to an amazing evensong and as night falls the owls crying through the trees is just amazing. There is great walking to be had during the day with the estuary at Waldringfield nearby and some excellent pubs if you don't feel like cooking. The toilet and shower facilities are better than my own at home with great touches like a hairdryer in the ladies, bug repellent, hand creams and the like and for those chilly evenings a box of blankets and hot water bottles to keep you snug. The addition of a small shop is great for when you run out of essentials. All in all a fab, friendly site.

Thank you to Jenny for a beautiful, peaceful break in Newbourne, Suffolk. The campsite is very well maintained, with clean amenities (showers/toilets are great). We loved the quiet break outdoors and a benefit is that it is adults only so it’s perfect for couples/friends! The on site mini shop is fantastic for easy/quick buys of food and drink. ||||Many countryside walks and activities to do nearby.||||Would highly recommend and we would come back, especially in summertime! :)||||Ozzy and WVWl

Second trip This is our second stay at newbourne, first time we camped this time decided to stay in cherry tree cabin as it was our first trip as husband and wife (we got married on the Monday) stayed for 3 nights from Wednesday. The cabin was romantic as it had no electric and was lit by candlelight. The Wednesday absolutely chucked it down but made no difference to us. Toilet and shower block were 5* absolutely clean and had extras ie blankets, insect repellent if you had forgotten yours. Lovely and peaceful and not a million miles away. Will be returning

We stayed in the Kingfisher cabin and it was amazing. What a treasure to find! I would highly recommend it. We've already got our next trip to Kingfisher cabin booked and I can't wait to go back.I'm also sure that in future we will also camp there. Newbourne Woodland Campsite is such a lovely, well taken care off site. Jen and Larry are also very pleasant and helpful.

Great campsite What a great campsite! Great surroundings and facilties...BBQ's and firepits you can borrow and chopped up wood for £5 per crate. Jen even goes to the effort of leaving spare sleeping bags, blankets and hot water bottles in the ladies facilities. Fridges, freezer and even an electronics charging up box free for people to use. The fellow campers were all friendly and one guy even let us look in the lodge he was staying in. It was lovely. Highly recommend it to anyone - even first time campers.

Loved it. Peace, tranquility. Booked for 3 nights, but the place is so beautiful we stayed an extra night. The toilets and shower block is spotless and deserves 5*. The shop has everything you need, can also order fresh bread. Even a freezer with ice-creams, what more do you need on a hot day and everything is reasonably priced. Very quiet when we arrived, but even with several more campers at the week-end, everyone was so spread about; it was still idyllic for a peaceful camping experience. A lovely village pub is quite close by with good food. Jen has gone above and beyond to make sure there is everything you could possibly need, blankets for a cold night, bug spray, the list goes on. Plenty of information for different walks and places to visit. Can't wait to return.

Thank you!

Stress Buster Wonderful campsite to get away from the world. Choice of woodland glade or pasture field limited to twenty pitches so plenty of space. Have fire pits and BBQ's available. No electric and very limited phone signal makes this the perfect hideaway. Toilets/shower where top class. Need to wheel barrow equipment to pitch but no more than 100-150 yards! Lots of local info available. No kids aloud or big groups so make it very quiet. With lots of background bird call. Great for short break.

A 5* campsite We have stayed at Newbourne a few times now, and are heading back next month with some friends so they can enjoy it too. The campsite is very well run, nice and relaxed and the perfect place to escape from the bustle of the world for a few days. You have the option to camp in the field area or the woods, both of which are lovely. It can get chilly in the woods in late season so it's nice to have the sunnier option of the fields if you like. There are fire pits for use, garden furniture around the site if you want to a picnic bench to sit at, and BBQs to borrow if you want them. The facilities are out of his world, I never thought I'd look forward to camping because I couldn't wait to use the showers but the wet rooms and rainfall showers are just beautiful. They have thought of all the added extras such as blankets and hot water bottles for chilly evenings, power points and a freezer if you need them, and a little shop for anything you may have forgotten. We love Newbourne and will definitely be returning again next year :)

Paradise! This is our second time at the adults only woodland campsite. This time we stayed in the cherry tree cabin instead of under canvas. The site is very well cared for, the facilities are spotless and the location is quite and peaceful. Even with the COVID-19 additional procedures in place, our holiday here went without a hitch. The extra touches are really appreciated, and the information about the area, walks and things to do are well thought out.

Another lovely visit I can honestly say that every time we go to this site we have a great time. We usually stay in Kingfisher cabin and it is the quirkiest and well equipped place I have stayed in. Everything you could possibly need is provided and the welcome pack that Jen provides is more than a welcome pack - eggs, bread, milk, jam, fruit and even a bottle of wine - such slovenly thing to do. And if you forget anything the on site shop will have it or just take a walk down the road and fruit and veg is available on many road side stalls or from the Virginia nurseries honesty shop. The friendliest site I know full of lovely campers and Jen and Larry are the best hosts. Its one of those places you want to rave about but you also want to keep it a secret (if you've been you'll know what I mean. Can't to return.

Unable to head any further afield for my annual cycle camping trip this year, I wanted somewhere different, quiet scenic clean and friendly. This campsite appeared to offer all of this.An adult only site that is very dog friendly, which was no problem at all, the site and facilities are pristine and idyllic if you need a rural digital detox.Numbers are always kept low and due to Covid were even lower when I visited. Jean and Larry place campers experience over profit it seems and this is clear in all that they do to make your stay a positive experience.I will definitely return and in all honesty, I can’t wait.

A very special campsite My gf and I have just returned from 2 nights camping here and we want to go back already. This adult-only campsite is a beautiful place to relax and get away from it all. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. They have put their hearts in to the campsite and you can feel it. We picked a spot in the heart of the wooded section (you can choose from the meadow or the wood) and whilst we were close to others the trees offer the feel of seclusion. Logs and charcoal are available to buy for use in the fire bowls and bbqs that can be collected upon arrival. The toilet/showers are immaculately clean and modern - better than many hotel bathrooms. The hot water was heaven after our kayaking trip on Saturday morning in Iken. Washing up after cooking was easy in in the 2 large sinks with washing up liquid, cloths and towels all provided. The little touches such as the insect repellent in the toilets or the box of blankets for those that get cold separate this from other campsites and show the level of attention that had gone in to this wonderful place. There is plenty to do in the area from walking in the countryside to lounging on the beach in Felixstowe. Newbourne Woods was the perfect place for our weekend get away and we will definitely be going back.

So lovely and quiet. Has everything you could think of. The amenities are fantastic and there's a lovely pub within walking distance. The camp shop has a great selection of bits and pieces especially if you forget something like we did.
